Dear CEMS Parent & Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025–2026 School Year!
We are excited to welcome you and your child(ren) to a new school year at Craig Schools. Whether you're a returning family or new to our school community, we’re so glad to have you with us. Our goal in Craig Schools is to help every student grow, build confidence, and develop a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. The staff are looking forward to a year filled with learning, growth, and positive connections.
What to Expect
In the first few days of school, our focus will be on helping students feel safe, welcomed, and ready to learn. We’ll spend time building routines, creating strong communities, and introducing expectations that set the tone for a successful year. Families can feel confident knowing that we are committed to caring for each student—supporting them both academically and emotionally as they settle into the school year.
Important Enrollment Requirements
The enrollment process requires several documents to be completed. We realize how time consuming this effort can be; however, each form is important to school functioning. Thank you in advance for completing your child(ren)’s paperwork and returning it to the school in a timely fashion.

Also enclosed in this packet is information on CCSD’s school lunch program. As you may be aware, all meals for all students in our schools are free of charge this year. However, it is very important that all families fill out the Income Declaration Form, which if for the Free and Reduced Lunch program, even if you know your family is not eligible or if your children do not eat school breakfast of lunch. We realize this may sound odd, but the government - who helps fund our schools – bases many decisions (grants, contracts, and other monetary assistance) on the Free and Reduced Lunch information provided by families. With your help, our school may be eligible for additional funding or programs.
For ease of reference, hard copies of the following documents are included in this packet: CCSD Enrollment/Health Requirements, CCSD School Calendar, Bus Route Map, CEMS Supply Lists, and a lunch menu.
Please note, CCSD’s website (http://www.ccsd.k12.ak.us) has additional documents posted that are available to you at any time. These documents include the CEMS Handbook, school forms, applications, and surveys/questionnaires, as well as additional information on student and school policies.
Lastly, please remember the birth certificate and immunization requirements for your child(ren). The State of Alaska will not allow us to have your child(ren) in school if they do not have a copy of their birth certificate on file and if their immunizations are not current.
